In May, I went with a friend, for their Lunch Break Cooking class. In front of 10 people, a chef demonstrated 3 recipes from a cook book. That day, it was the famous and inspiring Jerusalem cookbook by Yotam Ottolenghi. I already had the book and was happy to be able to test knew recipes from it.

First, we had a baby spinach salad with almonds, dates and pita, then turkey and zucchini meatballs with yogurt sumac sauce and finally a semolina coconut cake. Everything was delicious and I made these recipes for guests at home and they loved them!

If you want to buy the book, you can get it at 10% off that day.

Check out tomorrow’s Lunch Break! The menu will once again be inspired by Yotam Ottolenghi but this time, the cookbook  will be Plenty. I would love to go again but unfortunately I am not available that day!

Great State Burger New Burgers in town

A new addition to the Seattle’s Fast Food Burgers scene!

The menu is very short: Burgers, Fries, and Milkshakes.

The burger (single patty) tasted great.  I liked the kind of brioche bun and the grass fed beef meat. Not spectacular, but very good.

It looks like they wanted to do something like Shake Shack in NYC. I need to go back to New York and check again if Great State Burger is close or not to the famous New York Burgers! 😉

It is already the season for Marination Makai

When it is 80 degrees in April, I like to walk along Alki Beach and enjoy the view of the Puget Sound.

A few nights ago we parked close to Marination and walked 2 hours after which we indulged ourselves with Beer, Margarita, and Chardonnay at Marination Makai.

My kids loved the Fish and chips with the miso tartar and the rest of us shared kimchi fried rice (spicy), pork sliders, and spicy pork tacos. I always order fish tacos and the green salad, I love the dressing and the peanuts on the top.

We arrived too late for the Happy hour (3pm-6pm) and it was a little bit dark.

Good to know: We had a dog with us and were able to have him with us on the patio.
