A day on Lopez Island

Let’s spend a beautiful summer day on Lopez Island.  After a 1h30 drive to Anarcortes, jump on the Lopez Island Ferry.

— Anacortes – Lopez Island Ferry

Reservation is available on the Westbound trip by third: in April (for Summer time), 2 weeks, and then 2 days before each specific date. We jumped in the 9:35 am Ferry. “I have a thing for ferry boats”.

— Spencer Spit State Park: 4 miles South East of the Ferry Terminal.

— Shark Reef Sanctuary: On the west coast of Lopez, facing San Juan Island’s Cattle Point and lighthouse, enjoy a gorgeous view and solitude. Sea lions at first front.

— Watmough Bay: In the afternoon we did a short forrest walk ending on dramatic cliffs and clear water. Again less than 10 people there.

Then it was time for our dinner in the village at Ursa Minor.

Walking in Southwest Queen Anne

With cobblestone lanes, historic landmarks homes, beautiful tall trees, small parks, awesome views of Puget Sound, Magnolia, the marina, and the fisher terminal…

Queen Anne is really one of a kind neighborhood.

I took a very nice walk on a sunny Winter Sunday, from Kerry Park (you know its classic view of downtown Seattle), to West Prospect street, West Highland drive, West Garfield street, Parsons Gardens, historic Wilcox Wall, Betty Bowen viewpoint, and also West Kinnear Place.

Queen Anne Neighborhood is on a hill, which means your route is full of beautiful stairways. Enjoy!
