Walking in Southwest Queen Anne

With cobblestone lanes, historic landmarks homes, beautiful tall trees, small parks, awesome views of Puget Sound, Magnolia, the marina, and the fisher terminal…

Queen Anne is really one of a kind neighborhood.

I took a very nice walk on a sunny Winter Sunday, from Kerry Park (you know its classic view of downtown Seattle), to West Prospect street, West Highland drive, West Garfield street, Parsons Gardens, historic Wilcox Wall, Betty Bowen viewpoint, and also West Kinnear Place.

Queen Anne Neighborhood is on a hill, which means your route is full of beautiful stairways. Enjoy!

A cocktail with a view at The Nest

The Nest is the rooftop bar and terrasse at the top of the Thompson Hotel. Overlooking the Puget Sound, Pike market, and waterfront, this place is really all about the view.

From 5pm to 12pm, have a drink, some bites and enjoy the sunset! And what is nicer than a sunset over the Olympics? Maybe a sunrise on the cascades.

It was a trendy place last summer and you could get stuck waiting in lines, waiting for servers… But during winter time, on a beautiful day like today, take your chance! They offer indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitted).

I can’t wait to come back on a late summer evening. In the meantime, we are going to try another rooftop place, M’Bar. I’ll keep you posted.

Have a seat,

Fall at Matt’s in the Market

The photo above has been taken from the corner table of Matt’s in the Market.

The restaurant is in the heart of Pike Market but is not touristy because it is hard to find. It sits on the second floor of the building across the street.

If you sit along the windows, you’ll see the neon sign and the clock. If your table is next to the kitchen,  you can watch the cooks work and also see the Puget Sound. On a sunny day (it happens sometimes…), during lunch time the light shines into the restaurant through the old windows. It is really pleasant.

The atmosphere is charming and casual. The food is local, fresh and delicious. Seafood is fantastic. The fish of the day, Halibut, was perfectly cooked.

Be smart! Make a reservation! The place is not big.
