Le Pichet

I like this cozy nice little place, which really looks like a French Bistro. Le Pichet is a few blocks from Pike Market on First avenue. If you want to escape the touristy crowds of the Market, this is the place to go.

The lunch menu is quite short but you can start with some good baguette and butter.

Tuna Salad: House-made albacore tuna conserve, baby romaine, marinated Orca beans, red onion, oregano and spice-roasted Delicata squash. The tuna conserve was delicious, and the beans and squash were comforting.

The heavy French onion soup (caramelised onion soup with crouton and gruyère cheese): a perfect dish for a cold windy day.

Otherwise the Assiette de fromages or the Assiette de charcuterie is always a goo choice!

They have a good by the glass or pichet French wine list. Pichet is a small pitcher (pictured below).

And last but not least, service was super nice.

Fall at Matt’s in the Market

The photo above has been taken from the corner table of Matt’s in the Market.

The restaurant is in the heart of Pike Market but is not touristy because it is hard to find. It sits on the second floor of the building across the street.

If you sit along the windows, you’ll see the neon sign and the clock. If your table is next to the kitchen,  you can watch the cooks work and also see the Puget Sound. On a sunny day (it happens sometimes…), during lunch time the light shines into the restaurant through the old windows. It is really pleasant.

The atmosphere is charming and casual. The food is local, fresh and delicious. Seafood is fantastic. The fish of the day, Halibut, was perfectly cooked.

Be smart! Make a reservation! The place is not big.

Storyville, a Hidden Coffee Place

The location of this hidden cafe close to Pike Market is perfect: Storyville is located on the second floor of a building across Pike Place Market. To find it, just follow the signs.

The decor is nice and resting in the comfy armchairs is extremely relaxing. You can play a game called IRK that is set on some tables.

Their pastries looked great but I only ordered a cup of coffee, which I enjoyed while relaxing and watching the place.

Through the windows you can see the Market and the Puget Sound, weather permitting.

And of course, WiFi is available!
