Casco Antiguo, Best Mexican Restaurantin Seattle?

I am still wondering why we did not go to Casco Antiguo sooner.

I don’t know if the Mexican food here is authentic but it is really good.

First, we shared the Queso Flameado (kind of melted cheese with chorizo), then we had some Pork Carnitas Tacos (Braised pork shoulder with a fantastic salsa verde) and Beef brisket Tacos. Unfortunately, they were out of the Pescado tacos (Mahi Mahi with a mango salsa) that we wanted to have. I want to taste those next time.

We could not resist ordering the churros. Yes I know this a lot of calories but seriously, don’t miss them, they were to die for.

I like the feel of the restaurant. It is an old building in Pioneer Square and as soon as you enter, you don’t feel like you are in Seattle anymore. There is also a small patio at the back of the restaurant.

Canon – Valentine’s massacre

My husband and I never celebrate Valentine’s Day. No judgment on couples who celebrate it, but we do not.

I remember in Paris when we were out on that specific day without realizing it was Valentine’s Day: we had a hard time to find a table in a restaurant and did not understand why! In the US you cannot miss it! With all the social media noise, the pink and red merchandises that flourish everywhere as early as January 1st!

Last February was a Tuesday and this is usually the day of the week we try to go out. So we were out on Valentine’s day! We did not know where to go without a reservation… when my husband spotted this fun poster!

It was exactly what we were looking for! With water pistols in front of us, we were ready to order some cocktails and bites and have a great time!

No need to wait next Valentine’s Day to go back to Canon. This a great spot with a nice and intimate atmosphere. The bar is decorated in an old fashioned style. Cocktails are unique and delicious, but some of them are really expensive. Waiters and bartenders were super nice. There can be a long wait, especially on weekends. If you can go right at opening, don’t hesitate.

Pacific Northwest Murals at Friday Harbor

When you miss your ferry on San Juan Island to go to Anacortes, you have some time to walk around Friday Harbor and discover beautiful things like this mural. Annie Howell-Adams is the artist and by painting these beautiful murals, she commemorated 100 years of commercial fishing in the San Juan Islands.

Look at these amazing aluminium panels on the wall of Ace Hardware Building on Nichols Street, Friday Harbor,WA.
