In May, I went with a friend, for their Lunch Break Cooking class. In front of 10 people, a chef demonstrated 3 recipes from a cook book. That day, it was the famous and inspiring Jerusalem cookbook by Yotam Ottolenghi. I already had the book and was happy to be able to test knew recipes from it.

First, we had a baby spinach salad with almonds, dates and pita, then turkey and zucchini meatballs with yogurt sumac sauce and finally a semolina coconut cake. Everything was delicious and I made these recipes for guests at home and they loved them!

If you want to buy the book, you can get it at 10% off that day.

Check out tomorrow’s Lunch Break! The menu will once again be inspired by Yotam Ottolenghi but this time, the cookbook  will be Plenty. I would love to go again but unfortunately I am not available that day!

The appropriation of the grand portrait

Following the tradition of European painters portraits, Kehinde Wiley looks for models with a lot of personality on the streets for casting. Then the model and the artist chose a traditional history portrait that would serve at a base for the new contemporary art. Pose, background, attitude, and clothes are chosen and the results are amazing.

Religious subjects

Introduction of black men in religious portraits

This part was my favorite: An Economy of Grace

Through a street casting, the artist chose his models and ordered Givenchy couture gowns inspired by nineteenth century.

Don’t miss the film that follows the entire process.

Eden Hill Has a Creative Chef!

We have only been to Eden Hill once but we cannot wait to go back. This restaurant is perfect for food lovers!

The space is tight but we had the chance to be seated at a small table right by the window. Otherwise tables are really close to one another.

But what is really worth the visit is the food! The chef is so talented and creative! All dishes were inventive, beautiful and delicious.

For me this is one of the best restaurants in Seattle.

They offer a tasting chef menu, but we were not that hungry that night. We chose to order 4 plates to share. We were more than happy with everything.

– Purple asparagus, egg yolk and cherry jam, crispy sunchoke, smoked and whipped Wagyu Beef fat
– Washington halibut Fava Beean and Ramp Panna cotta, charred kale blossom, lemon air
– Albacore tuna crudo, Yuzu Koshu and ginger Bubbles, kumquat, pickled mushrooms, wild onion flowers
– Veal sweetbread Tostada, house corn tortilla, radish, aerated creme fraiche, lime dew, habanero, ras el hanout
– Ruby Grapefruit curd, candied pistachio, rhubarb and verjus sorbet, olive oil cake.

Everything was amazing and beautifully presented. We need to go back for the Chef Menu.
